Things to do in Sydney
Palm Beach is very nice on a sunny day.
The Southern end of the ocean beach is generally more protected from the wind & surf conditions. It also features a rock swimming pool for when the surf is rough.
Barrenjoey Headland lighthouse guards the entrance to Pittwater & Hawkesbury waterways. You can take the moderate walking trip to get up to it. Some rough sections of track. Walk along the beach on the “Pittwater side” of the peninsula towards the headland to start the track.
National parks do guided tours of the lighthouse on Sundays for a small fee. The views from the headland top is awesome. Looking out from the extra height of the lighthouse it is extra special. Bring your camera.
Car parking in Governor Phillip Park near the headland cost $4 for the first hour, $2.40 every hour after that & maximum day rate of $37.80. The park has bbq’s, picnic shelters, children’s playground & water on both sides (Pittwater & Tasman Sea). You can also get a L90 bus from either Central Station or Wynyard (depending on day & time).
